Climate-neutral
Our long-standing energy partner GASAG supplies the Uber Arena exclusively with green electricity and green natural gas. This means that the arena obtains all of its energy in a 100% climate-neutral way.

Energy supply and consumption

• The green electricity is produced using hydropower in Northern Europe and is certified with the RenewablePlus ecolabel by TÜV Rheinland.
• The natural gas supply to the Uber Arena is made climate-neutral by means of greenhouse gas reduction certificates.
• We have switched to LED lighting in all public areas
• The sports lighting is also 100% LED
• Motion sensors for lighting
• Savings in the production of the ice cold by installing a screw compressor.
• Heat recovery in the ventilation system
• Optimization through energy management system

CO2 reduction

• Reduction of CO2 emissions thanks to a natural gas-powered combined heat and power plant on the roof that covers the arena's base load.
• Large parts of our roof and the roof of our parking garage are greened.
• • The arena is optimally connected to public transportation

As little plastic as possible
In line with the law banning single-use plastic, which came into force on July 3, 2021, we had already stopped giving out the following items:

• plastic lids
• drinking straws
• plastic cutlery

Furthermore

• our snack bowls and beer coasters are made entirely from recycled cardboard.
• The bowls in which our nachos are served are made from sugar cane fibers (bagasse).
• Cleaning: Use of recyclable waste bags and containers.

Waste avoidance

• We handle the majority of our contractual processes paperless.
• Used paper towels are recycled.
• We do not provide napkins with every order, but instead use napkin dispensers.
• We ask our guests to use only as many disposable items (e.g. paper towels, napkins) as necessary.
• Waste is separated at all food and beverage stands.
• Wherever possible, we buy unpackaged food.
• Approximately 94% of the waste generated is recycled.

Water

• We try not to use more water than necessary. Therefore, the toilets are flushed centrally.
• We also operate an organic drinking water treatment plant.
