Lionel Richie gehört zu den absoluten Superstars. In seiner Karriere hat er 100 Millionen Alben verkauft.
Gemeinsam mit Michael Jackson und Quincy Jones schrieb er 1985 den Charity-Welthit „We are the world" und hat sich damit in das Geschichtsbuch der Musik eingetragen. Ein Jahr später gewann er den Oscar für seinen Song "Say you, say me" aus dem Film „White Nights". Er erhielt in seiner gesamten Laufbahn fünf Grammys, sowie elf American Music Awards und im Februar 2007 wurde ihm die Goldene Kamera für sein Lebenswerk verliehen.
